Pharmacist Justin Weyer has been selected by his co-workers as Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center Employee of the Year for 2010.
The announcement was made Friday at a luncheon honoring the year's employees of the month. Joining employees for the luncheon and award presentation ceremony were family members and friends as well as hospital staff, administrators and the Board of Directors.
The Employee of the Month and Year awards recognize employees who demonstrate the hospital’s values of excellence, compassion and ethics in their daily work. Weyer, of rural Holmesville, has worked for the hospital since 2006. Weyer's customers described him as friendly and willing to take the time necessary to answer their questions and said they appreciate being able to count on his smile when they visit the pharmacy. His co-workers also said his contributions in the implementation of a new, hospital-wide information system proved valuable to the success of the new system.
Hospital employees choose the Employee of the Year from among the monthly award winners. Weyer received a variety of gifts and will be honored later this year on the state level during the Nebraska Hospital Association’s Caring Kind Award Luncheon, which honors employees from hospitals throughout the state.
The employees of the month for 2010 were: Dawn Tinney, former unit secretary, Specialty Clinics; Cindy Melcher, registered nurse, house supervisor / charge nurse for Emergency Department; Katie Genrich, registered nurse, hospice nurse for Home Care Department; Robin Cooper, food services technician, Nutritional Services Department; Justin Weyer, pharmacist, Pharmacy Department; Leslie Rinne, registered nurse, Labor and Delivery Department.
