The Foundation's mission is to provide financial resources for present and future needs of Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. The Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation helps generate thousands of dollars yearly to support a number of BCHHC health-related activities and events including Breast Cancer Awareness, Cardiac Rehab, Health Fair, Home Health, Hospice, Immunization Clinic, Lifeline, Physician Recruitment and the Ready Set Go back-to-school program. Funds are also provided for the Scholarship Program. A key component of the Foundation's success is the individuals and businesses that are members of the Centurian Club, established in 1978. Centurians partner with the Foundation to help the hospital provide essential medical services for the community. Our annual fundraiser, "Catch the Glow," is held the first Friday in December. Security First Bank sponsors this fun filled evening with silent and live auctions, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Through generous community support this event is instrumental in funding non-budgeted equipment and programs.

The most common form of deffered gift to support the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation is a bequest contained in a person's will or revocable (living) trust. The bequest can provide for:
Life Income Gifts Life income gifts serve a dual purpose -- they provide philanthropic support for the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation while also providing both a charitable income tax deduction and an income stream to you and/or your loved ones. These gift vehicles can provide income benefits comparable to -- or in some cases exceeding -- those that might be earned in non-charitable vehicles. Many donors establish life income gifts with assets that are producing a very small amount of income, such as cash or appreciated stocks that do not earn dividents.
Consider one of these basic types of life income gifts: A charitable remainder unitrust makes payments that fluctuate with the market and therefore may provide a hedge against inflation. A charitable remainder annuity trust provides a fixed income like a gift annutiy, but the tax treatment of the payout may be preferable for donors giving highly appreciated assets. The first two options are by far the most common types of life income gifts. Some donors establish life income gifts though theirs wills as a means of providing a life income to a loved one.

Charitable Lead Trusts A charitable lead trust can be used to transfer assets to children or others at a significantly reduced tax liability. The trust makes a fixed payment to the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation for a specified term, measured either by someone's life or a selected number of years. After the trust term ends, the assets of the trust are either returned to you or passed on to children or other loved ones. If the assets are to be returned to you, you receive an income tax deduction when the trust is created. If the assets are passed on to heirs, applicable estate or gifft taxes on the vlaue of the gift are reduced or completely eliminated. The tax savings from a charitable lead trust may allow you to provide significant support to the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation at little or no cost to heirs in terms of ultimate inheritance. A charitable lead trust may provide either a fixed "annutiy" payment or a variable "untrust" payment to the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation. Low interest rates make the annuity payment option attractive for donors as more asets may be passed on to heirs. A charitable lead trust can be a powerful tool in gift and estate tax planning, but the technical complexities require careful consideration. The foundation's staff is glad to work with you and your financial advisors to see if a charitable lead trust is the right plan for you.
