Digital Mammography
The Diagnostic Imaging Department at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center is pleased to announce that it is now offering digital mammography services.
Digital mammography means:
n Shorter exam
n Less radiation
n Less repositioning
n Better images
n Computer Aided Detection
Because there's no waiting for film to be developed, high resolution comptuer images are immediately available for viewing. That means patients spend less time in the exam room and rarely need to return for repeat images due to under- or over-exposure. Computer-aided detection technology, in addition, uses computer sofware to analyze the mammograms, highlighting areas of interest and drawing the radiologist's attention to areas that require additional review.
Digital images are easily stored and transferred electronically, eliminating the dependency on one set of original films, which can be misfiled or lost in transit.
With the addition of the Hologic Selenia Full-Field Digital Mammography system, BCH is now a certified Pink Ribbon Facility.
